Do you know how long it takes me to get ma socks on in the morning? A long, long time, it’s longer now that I’ve started wearing those weird ones that cover each toe and look like gloves for ma foot fingers (they were a birthday present from old creaky Aunt Barbara, in case you were wondering). Sometimes I think if I really practice putting on these freak, glove socks that I could get them on in about a minute, cos when you think about it a lot can be achieved in a minute, that is, if you put you mind to it.

Like this beat Glow by Kwillo, it runs for just over one minute but what a chilled, smooth and thoroughly lovely minute that is. It is based around a little chord riff that runs throughout the beat, ridiculously catchy but seemingly completely original. The riff has a little of the Breeders about it, feels like it could be played by Kim Deal lying on a sofa, sheltered from the rain strumming away on a Saturday while watching reruns of Mork and Mindy on the telly. But of course this is a different kinda lofi from what the Deals played and the kick drum snare combo on this piece fits the guitar just as an aging chimpanzee grandfather’s hand would support the family baby from trying to snatch your last banana. The snare is a standout also, almost reminding you that even though this whole beat is about as chill as it gets, you should always be on your guard, as the apes know where you live, and they are coming for you. So if you can, and you should, take one minute away from your desk today and listen to Glow it’ll slow that heartbeat of yours and allow you to breathe another breath, a happier breath, pc. Check it oot here
